Memento Couteaux is a project that explores the idea that knives might be a reflection of our lifestyle and personality. A study was made on knives and it was found that nowadays people forgot about all the superstition and symbolism of knives and they actually view knives more as a utensil for cooking in our everyday life. An observation was made on knives from 5 households to see the difference between the knives they owned. After that a small interview was conducted with the different household memebers. Their income level, number of household members and number of knives they owned has also been considered. Below is a showcase of this observation study.

This sample of knives is from another standard family household with 3 children. However compared to the other families they only have 3 knives and their knives are in pretty good condition. This is because they have the practice of throwing away knives that become obsolete and buy newer once. Because of this practice they also make use of all their knives. Another obvious difference from this family is that they do not own knives for cutting meat and this is because they eat more vegetables than meat.
